    Following Lindsay's murder conviction on the season finale, season 7 opens with Lindsay being sentenced to life in prison. Bobby tries to keep it together, and chooses Rebecca to lead Lindsay's appeal. Meanwhile, Jimmy is hired by a woman who kidnapped a little girl many years ago, to anonymously inform the girl's mother that she is safe and sound. That action opens up a huge can of worms, resulting with the false arrest of the woman originally accused of the kidnapping.

    Helen manages to trick a confession of kidnapping out of Bernice White, and a guilt-ridden Jimmy takes on her case, determined not to let her go down for a crime he knows she didn't commit. Despite his efforts, it's new attorney Jamie Stringer who manages to save the day. Meanwhile, Rebecca argues Lindsay's appeal before the Supreme Court, and Ellenor deals with her guilt over losing the trial in the first place.

Desperate to make her first court appearance, Jamie lets the hopeless case of a flasher come to trial, where things rapidly spin out of control.

Bobby has dinner with Sarah, and Sarah claims he is starting an affair. Bobby and Lindsay's marriage takes a turn for the worse when Lindsay tells him that she doesn't love him. Lindsay says that she still wants their marriage to work out. Bobby kisses Sarah, and Lindsay sees.
