The Earl Williams murder trial continues as Kuzak tries to evaluate witnesses sympathetic to Earl Williams as the case draws to a close. But then, Kuzak makes the colossal mistake of putting Earl Williams on the witness stand where after Kuzak's gentle direct examination, the aggressive prosecutor, Margaret Flanagan, grills Williams about his past domestic abuse to provoke a violent reaction from him. Earl Williams' arrogant and defensive behavior on the witness stand dooms him to a quick conviction from the conservative and predominately white jury. Meanwhile, Becker tries to clear the air with Corrinne over his actions during her divorce and they get close fast while Becker is drawn to her 8 year old daughter, Chloe. Rollins takes on an insurance company on behalf of an elderly lady and gets some help from Brackman. Also, McKenzie scares Diana during a law class when he disapproves of her dating co-workers, which includes Rollins.

Becker represents Mason Paine, an aging country music singer who tries to fight a divorce action brought by his rising star wife. Meanwhile, Gwen gives her law tutor a second chance not to come on to her, and regrets it when he turns out to be a Lothario who will not take 'no' for an answer. Mullaney tries to convince Rosalie and her overprotective mother not to back out in testifying against Rosalie's rapist. Also, Paros defends Christine Rowan, a teenage prostitute for robbery while dealing with the biased judge in her case who sees the case that parallels his own daughter.

Becker blames Belinda's personal malice for his becoming a suspect in the murder of Camilla Greer, while the rest of the firm rallies around him to prove the charges are false and Jinx is hired to tail Askoff to find out if he had something to do with the murder. Meanwhile, Mullaney anticipates trouble with Judge Arthur Bryson, the man who used to date Judge Carolyn Walker, as he prosecutes a case under California's "three strikes" law. McKenzie makes an abrupt change of plans when he visits a doctor. Also, Denise becomes annoyed by the eccentric photocopier repairman's constant whistling.
