Stefan is hopeful of his plan to get rid of Damon, and decides to reveal parts of his past to Elena. Bonnie seeks advice from her grandmother (Jasmine Guy - A Different World).

Bonnie's abilities surprise Damon. Elena asks Jeremy not to see Vicki. Matt takes Vicki to the high school Halloween dance, but the night takes a terrifying turn.

Stefen gets a surprise visit from old friend Lexi. Caroline tries to get Damon's Medallion back from Bonnie.

Damon goes to Georgia to suprise an old flame, Bree (Gina Torres - Standoff, Firefly), and enlist her help. Meanwhile, Stefan uncovers a startling clue to the past.

Jeremy asks Anna (Malse Jow) to a party in the woods. Stefan, Damon and Elena work with Bonnie and Grams (Jasmine Guy) to open the tomb, and are shocked by what they discover.

On the day of the Night of the Illumination in Mystic Falls, Mason ties Damon to a chair and the vampire believes that it is a prank of his brother Stephan. Later Mason tells that he is seeking redemption and wants to destroy Klaus to help Tyler. He goes with Damon to a cave with tunnels where it is supposed to have a weapon to destroy the Original Vampire. Elena asks Jeremy whether he may contact Lexi to learn how she can bring humanity back to Stephan, but her brother explains that he has no connection with Lexi. Bonnie goes with Caroline to the place where the witches were burnt and she casts a spell from the Grimoire to bring the dead back. Her grandmother Sheila returns and tells that she must close the passage, destroying the necklace, since the Original Witch is sending every ghost that still has pending business back to Mystic Falls. Meanwhile, the vampires from the tomb also return seeking revenge. Lexi contacts Elena and she starts Stephan's "treatment". Caroline does not find the necklace on the place that Damon told her that it would be and she suspects that Anna has stolen it. Damon can not go ahead through the tunnel that is protected and Mason goes alone. Anna returns the necklace to Jeremy and Bonnie casts a spell; Lexi, Mason, Anna and her mother, the vampires from the tomb and Sheila vanishes.

In the fourth season premiere, Elena awakens after the accident to find the thing she dreaded most has come true. Damon is furious with Stefan, and takes out his rage on Matt.

Damon has an ugly run-in with a Hunter, Vaughn (CHARLIE BEWLEY - The Twilight Saga), and realizes he is one of the Five. Stefan admits his feelings about possibly becoming human.

Someone has been attacking patients at the hospital. A violent wind storm causes a power outage and ghosts suddenly appear - some with good intentions and some bent on revenge.

Season finale: It's Graduation Day. Damon's life is in danger and Elena faces an epic confrontation. Plus, Stefan discovers a horrifying clue to the mystery surrounding Silas.

Elena and Stefan start having dreams about an alternate version of their lives; The Travelers move in on Mystic Falls; Matt has a frightening encounter on the Other Side.

Damon and Caroline suspect Stefan and Elena of keeping a secret while they hide from the travelers, unaware of the dead man out for revenge. Meanwhile Matt, Jeremy and Bonnie help Tyler get rid of Julian.

Damon's plan causes a huge explosion in Mystic Falls, and everyone is caught up in the confusion, leaving a trail of heroism, sacrifice, relief and despair.

Sybil puts Damon in a catatonic state for revenge. Caroline and Bonnie enter Damon's mind and realize Stefan is the key to his fate. Sybil competes with her sister for control of the bell.

With the fate of Mystic Falls at stake, Stefan and Damon must fight their greatest enemy for one last battle.
