    Father Brown hosts a jazz quartet whose car has broken down, but they are interrupted by Emmanuel Jammite, who claims that musician Joseph Sinclair stole his girlfriend, the band's singer Yveline from him back in Haiti. Emmanuel is a voodoo priest, so suspicion falls on him when the house is broken into and Sinclair's corpse is later found floating in a swimming pool. Emmanuel swears he is innocent but dies trying to fleeing the police. Father Brown believes one of the band members is the true murder and an innocent man lost his life because he was framed.
