Jeff is expecting Juliette to formally apologize for her behavior during her Grand Ole Opry ceremony, but at the last minute she has a change of heart and decides to standby the choices she's made. Luke introduces Rayna to a power player that could help her get her distribution deal off the ground, and then surprises her with a NASCAR that is wrapped in Rayna Jayme's graphics. Deacon is discovering his record deal might not be what he expected and Scarlett's collaboration with Liam gets off to a rocky start. Will and Layla discover they aren't all that different and find comfort in one another's company and Teddy will stop at nothing to reveal Lamar's connection to Peggy's death.

Juliette's new song, "Don't Put Dirt on My Grave Just Yet," catches the ear of a high-powered, hit-making producer, Howie V (Michael Chernus, "Orange Is the New Black"). He wants to make her a superstar and brings her to Los Angeles to record, but marginalizes Glenn in the process. Meanwhile, Rayna takes charge with stoicism in the aftermath of recent events, and Scarlett feels lost and alone but finds Liam to be a receptive confidante.

Rayna's girls meet Luke's son Colt; Juliette becomes more and more jealous; Gunnar refuses to support Will and Layla's plan; Maddie is forbidden to go to Deacon's concert.

Scarlett's breakdown is driving everyone to point fingers at who might be responsible for her condition. Deacon is blaming Rayna for pushing her too fast, Rayna is blaming Juliette for forcing her on stage and Beverly thinks Rayna is only interested in seeing her label succeed. It always feels like everyone has an axe to grind with Juliette, so she turns to Avery, only to find him preoccupied with Scarlett. During her moment of weakness, she is driven right into the hands of her nemesis. Meanwhile, Layla tries to convince Will to join her in a reality show.

Rayna and Luke organize a concert for the troops. Scarlett makes a decision about her future. Maddy's bond with Deacon grows. Will realizes the reality show might have been a bad idea while Juliette tries to forget what happened at the BMI party.

After Will's debut album bumps Rayna's to second place, she's more determined than ever to make Highway 65 and her record a hit. In turn, she decides to pursue some new and unexpected opportunities for publicity, including a visit to "Good Morning America" where her friend Luke Bryan surprises her on stage. Layla becomes especially disgruntled about her fleeting career and pressures her husband Will, Edgehill Records' new number 1 artist, to help her rebuild it. Meanwhile, Juliette deals with some life-changing news and prepares for a big audition.

Rayna and Luke try to set a date for their wedding. Juliette struggles with morning sickness whilst on tour and shooting a movie. Deacon finds comfort with Luke's backup singer. Layla blackmails Jeff.

Rayna and Jeff compete to get Sadie to sign with either Highway 65 or Edgehill. Juliette continues to try and hide her pregnancy. Zoey becomes suspicious of Gunnar and Scarlett. Avery's drinking lands him in trouble.

Juliette is rushed to hospital after collapsing backstage. Gunnar tries to persuade Kiley to stay in Nashville so he can spend more time with Micah. Maddie and Colt throw a party. Teddy receives a shock.

Rayna continues to pull out all stops in self-promotion, this time by agreeing to do a televised Christmas special from her home for charity, with Luke and the children. But when she invites Deacon to join in, things get awkward fast. Her magazine cover story has reverberations for her personal life.

Rayna refuses to let Deacon wallow in his condition, but her support only frustrates him and pushes him away. Meanwhile, Avery, Gunnar and Scarlett are opening for Rascal Flatts on tour, but, when her past public meltdown haunts her on social media, Scarlett becomes wary of performing again.

Rayna plans a star-studded baby shower for Juliette, but gets distracted by Sadie's drama; Luke and Bucky both hope to sign Ron Pope, a rising singer-songwriter; Gunnar is upset as Scarlett and Dr. Rand grow closer.

With the arrival of his former fiancee in Nashville, Jeff finds himself face-to-face with Jade St. John (played by Christina Aguilera). A powerhouse pop-star in Nashville on tour, Jeff is forced to revisit his past and work with the woman who once played a large role in both his personal and professional lives.

The brightest stars of Nashville have gathered in support of Teddy's music education initiative, "Note By Note," where Juliette plans her return to the spotlight, and Layla finds herself thrust into it, alongside Jade St. John. At the gala, Rayna, Deacon, Maddie and Daphne get ready to take the stage and perform, but before they can, Deacon receives the call he's been waiting for containing some life-changing news.

Juliette becomes so focused on her album that she puts it ahead of everything else.

Juliette Barnes returns to Nashville after receiving treatment for postpartum depression and finds herself at a critical crossroads. Layla, weeks away from launching her first album, courts a country-music superstar in order to secure an opening slot on her tour.

Rayna and Teddy reconnect for the benefit of bringing Maddie home, and avoiding court. Juliette does successfully on tour and makes advances towards Avery which does not make Layla happy. Luke goes on a talk show to try to amp up Will's career again.

Its not as easy as Rayna and Deacon expected it would be to regain Maddie's trust, especially when someone who is supposed to be their ally hinders their efforts. Tension is caused between Scarlett and Gunnar over their past while doing an interview & Luke has good intentions, but they backfire.

Rayna makes a last-ditch effort to protect her oldest daughter from the perils that befall young artists, while Juliette reunites with her "Shenandoah Girl" co-star on the Oscar campaign trail. Elsewhere, Scarlett grows wary of Gunnar's budding friendship with Autumn Chase, and Layla fears falling into obscurity before her career takes off.

Gunnar gets to perform with music legend Elton John. Rayna and Deacon reflect on their relationship while Scarlett does some soul searching. Luke goes on a talk show to speak on a subject important to him, but the focus quickly shifts to a family emergency.

Juliette needs to decide how she's going to publicly address what really happened regarding Jeff's death. Will becomes a leader in a sense. Rayna takes dire action when she finds out who Maddie has encountered, and one music duo may go their separate ways.

The Exes shoot their video. Scarlett and the director, Damien George, fight as he pushes Scarlett to limits she's not comfortable with. Clay and Maddie grow closer as he shows Maddie a different part of town. Carl Hockney approaches Rayna at Highway 65.

Juliette draws closer to her guardian angel, Hallie; Rayna and Deacon beef up their home security after Rayna's encounter with Carl Hockney, and Avery leaps back into performing.

Rayna and Deacon take precautions when Hockney tests the limits of their restraining order. Elsewhere, Juliette asks the church choir to work with her on an album, while Scarlett finds herself drawn to Damien.

Juliet's first appearance since her plane crash brings on a bout of anxiety. Bucky and Zach are still at odds on the direction of Highway 65.

Scarlett confronts reporter Mackenzie Rhodes. Will shoots a commercial. Deacon is feeling the pressure to move on from Rayna.
