A special episode which precedes the first episode of Private Practice. The episode consists entirely of clips from the first three seasons of Grey's Anatomy. Taken together, the clips detail Dr. Addison Montgomery's experiences at Seattle Grace Hospital, filling in new viewers on her history and the reasons that she has come to Oceanside Wellness.

Having moved from Seattle to LA (and her own series away Grey's Anatomy), Dr. Addison Montgomery relocates her practice in a business owned (mostly) by one of her best friends in medical school. Her first patient is a 17 year-old-mother who didn't inform her father she was even pregnant until she went into labor, while a colleague of hers deals with a patient who refuses to quit counting the tiles in a department store. Meanwhile, her best friend, Naomi, deals with a deceased patient's remains and who gets control of him.

Cooper tries to get Sam back into the main stream again, while Addison deals with a child who's condition doesn't match that of her parents' lineage.

Addison is down because of the weather and she treats a woman who can't have sex. when her treatments don't work, Pete offers to help, but she refuses. Violet has a patient who feels dominated by his wife and gets the courage to leave her but she doesn't take it well. Cooper tries to find out how a girl turned blue. And Naomi is sad that her daughter is staying with Sam.

Addison invites her fellow colleagues to a party at her new home but no-one RSVP's except Dell. Cooper befriends a lovesick patient and Violet discovers that Naomi's seeing her ex-boyfriend Alan's new wife Cami as a patient. Meanwhile, Addison treats Rebecca - an underweight pregnant woman who has been misdiagnosed and is categorized as having Munchausens.

Even after confiding in her colleagues at work, Addison can't get Pete out of her head. Naomi & Sam's daughter seeks help with Addison, while Cooper fears Violet is setting herself up again after her ex visits the clinic and the clinic's new mid-wife attempts to conduct his first exam.

As Naomi begins throwing herself back into the dating pool, Addison finds herself being thrown into a mental wall when it comes to her personal desire to settle back down, while patients include a young adult who shows signs of abuse, a doctor from the local hospital who can't fall asleep, and a woman who can't seem to get the truth right.

Sam gets called to a convenience store were he ends up delivering the child of the woman who tried to rob the store. Addison and Naomi treat a patient who doesn't want her little boy because her husband goofs off with their other three boys too much. Addison and Pete treat a patient whose husband died.

Different events occur in the lives of all the doctors after they've all experienced a night of heavy sexual tension, including a date off the Internet for Cooper, a deadly sickness in a convent for Naomi and Sam, and a newborn baby for Addison, as well as a budding friendship with someone new, who turns out to be someone with a fetish being treated by Violet.

Dell enlists Sam's help in an effort to discover the reasons behind the bruising on his grandfather's body. Cooper enlists Pete's help in conducting a newborn father's class. Past patients drop in on Oceanside, including a couple having trouble with conception and a police officer in need of a physical.

Addison disagrees with Naomi on the designer baby methods she did for Molly and Eric Madison in order to save their 7 year old son. But when 6-month pregnant Molly decides to bring on her labor as her son's condition deteriorates it is up to Addison to save the baby and reluctantly donate the core blood to the baby's brother. Meanwhile, Cooper and Charlotte continue their behind closed doors affair and it causes him to abandon his usual annual holiday with Violet. Elsewhere, Pete asks Addison out just as Kevin comes back on the scene, Dell quits and Naomi tells Addison that the practice is in trouble which causes Sam to relieve her of administrative duties.

Patients include a 17 year old teenager who wants to die against his selfish father's wishes and a couple whose genetic secret reveals itself to Addison and Naomi. Pete does his share to generate business for the Practice and Violet wonders why her friendship with Cooper is falling apart.

Charlotte ups the ante for Addison in her job offer by dangling surgeries in front of her, while patients at the practice include a cross-dressing fireman, an infant with an abnormally large head and a woman with insomnia as a result of her son's tendency towards violence. Everyone finds out about Dell's new job.

Sam and Naomi come up with a counter-proposal when the rest of the Practice forces them to kiss and make up. Cooper finds the need to vocalize his feelings when it comes to Charlotte, but his patient doesn't want to listen to a word he has to say about her potentially autistic son when she realizes that Cooper has advertised himself on an adult dating site. Addison tries to come up with her own counter-proposal when her policeman boyfriend invites her for a getaway weekend.

Addison opposes a plan put into action by the rest of the staff before she joined the Practice, while Violet is asked to put her license in jeopardy by one of her best friends, who happens to be running for office.

Addison treats two pregnant women who share the same husband.

Addison's brother pays a visit, but it's everyone else who pays the price at the Practice. Charlotte continues to use favors in the bedroom as pass overs for her personal shortcomings with Cooper, who's still in the dark regarding her new business venture, while Violet is put in a position to treat a mentally disturbed patient who seems capable of being a sexual predator.

Violet and Sam try to find some common ground when a man she's treating kills his wife, who's being treated by Sam for an incurable kidney disease. When Meg gets a job at Oceanside, she gets off on the wrong foot by offering services not supported by the partners. Addison is caught in the middle of a tug-of-war in which a woman in a coma goes into labor and the father won't permit a C-section in order to save the baby in hopes that labor will bring the mother out of the coma.

As Charlotte opens her new practice, the competition ensues, including the frowned-upon practice of stealing patients. Kevin begins to get restless as Addison has a hard time defining the line between doctor and significant other. Dell tries to match people who would like to adopt with a young college student who realizes that there's more of a chance for her unborn child if she gives her up.

When Meg returns, Pete can't help but struggle when it comes to his relationship with her, which is changing, except no one knows that it's his intimacies with Violet that's affecting him. Cooper struggles with a decision to do what's right when it comes to the care of a young patient. Naomi struggles over consulting with Charlotte's practice involving a patient in remission and wishes to become pregnant. Addison struggles with a prospective med student when she doesn't agree with the way her school is being paid for, while Kevin treats her like she's flaunting her money in his face.

Oceanside Wellness is put under quarantine when one of Cooper's patients contracts the measles. Naomi pressures Addison into working with her rival, Wyatt, on a fertility case; meanwhile, Dell fights for sole custody of his daughter, and Violet and Pete consider taking their friends-with-benefits relationship to the next level.

Addison is attracted to Wyatt, the rival practice's brash doctor, while Violet secretly dates Pete and Sheldon at the same time, and Cooper gets closer to Charlotte in a family emergency.

Kevin keeps pressure on Addison, who can't account for one night, while she was kissing the doctor from the fourth floor. Violet discovers she's pregnant, but the real complication lies in the identity of the father. Cooper is all for Charlotte's proposal, but they don't exactly see eye to eye on the method of carrying it out. Pete and Sam don't see eye to eye, either, over a doctor with cancer and wants them to help him die. Addison has to step in when complications from birth arise concerning a baby who's about to be adopted.

Sam and Naomi realize they can be friends, while Cooper encourages Violet to talk to Pete and Sheldon about her pregnancy. Addison's brother moves to LA and begins working up on the fourth floor for Charlotte, who continues to rebuff Cooper's advances towards mending their relationship. A patient for Addison is experiencing some stroke-like symptoms, while pregnant.

When Archer suffers a seizure, Addison and Naomi, search for a cause and a cure. In their quest they call Derek Shepherd for help. Meanwhile, Violet tells about the pregnancy to Sheldon and Pete, while Cooper is left to take care of a seven year-old abandoned patient.

After suffering a severe asthma attack at Seattle Grace, Sam is treated by Naomi and Bailey who try to determine the cause. Meanwhile Addison assists Derek in a case involving a pregnant woman.

Addison's caught up in the relationship between her brother and her best friend, as well as a couple who's baby is born with both male and female organs. Violet gets caught up in helping with a couples therapy group, which does not help her own situation.

After the rest of the doctors put a woman who was brutally attacked back together, physically, Violet gets to try to put her back together emotionally, while trying, herself to dance around the hassles of identifying her baby's father. After Sam calls his new girlfriend by his ex-wife's name, Naomi takes it upon herself to get them back together. Addison's flirtations in the scrub room with another doctor proceed until he finds out who she is.

Dell's ex wants to pack up his daughter and move her to Missouri. Naomi wants Sam to fix her up with one of his basketball buddies. Violet wants her patient to realize her fetus is not alive. Addison wants her patient to choose another doctor...another one her patient's husband is not fawning over.

Even though they refuse to do anything about it, the sexual tension still exists between Addison and Noah. A mother of one of Cooper's patients wishes for her daughter to be put on birth control pills, even though the child is only twelve. Dell's personal life begins to affect his work, while Violet feels pangs of jealousy when Pete begins to pay attention to a single mother.

Noah and Addison are forced to partner up on a case involving a pregnant woman with a terminal heart condition. Pete's new love interest has a hard time dealing with the situation between Pete and Violet. Everyone at the practice puts their own license at risk by not notifying the authorities when they discover a teacher is having an affair with one of her high school students.

Addison faces her feelings for Noah as Morgan goes into labor.

Addison and Naomi fight to keep Violet alive after Katie has stolen her baby while Pete deals with the immediate effect Violet had on his own life since the death of his wife.

Violet's emotional reaction to her attack has all her friends on standby alert, afraid she'll freak out. Addison makes no effort to ease tensions between her and Naomi, while the practice tries to deal with a woman they feel is covering up something when her husband shows up at the hospital with a stab wound.

Dr. Miranda Bailey shows up in California with a pair of patients in tow; a donor and her recipient sister, a young lady who needs a kidney transplant within 72 hours in order to survive. Addison gets blind-sided by Noah's wife and Pete gets blind-sided by Violet when she agrees to grant Sheldon a paternity test.

Addison and Sam make some decisions about the practice that forces Cooper to take stock of his financial situation, while all three doctors get involved with a homeless teen mother and her young son. Violet continues to push away the people who are closest to her, all the while letting what's happened to her affect them and her work, as well.

Addison must deal with the return of Naomi's former patients, Zoe and Amelia, whose embryos were accidentally switched, and a serious complication that may end up jeopardizing both fetuses. Meanwhile the time has come for Katie's trial, as Violet struggles with whether or not she can face her attacker in court, and Charlotte is determined to convince Addison, Sam and Cooper to let her join Oceanside Wellness Group.

The doctors venture into controversial territory when an unexpected new hire at Pacific Wellcare causes Naomi to struggle with the idea of genetically designing babies and Violet makes a sudden decision to try electric shock therapy on a patient. Meanwhile Addison somehow finds herself alone and with a cat.

Addison and Sam go for a hike in Malibu, and must perform urgent field care when they stumble upon an expecting couple, trapped in their car after an accident. Meanwhile at Oceanside Wellness, Charlotte, Cooper and Violet treat a newlywed who, out of nervousness for his wedding night, has taken too much Viagra, and Pete and Sheldon hit the bar scene together but fall for the same girl.

Addison is shaken by the unwelcome arrival of her father to Los Angeles, Cooper is arrested when he refuses to cooperate in a case involving a longtime patient, and Pete fights to keep a terminally ill patient alive long enough for him to meet his new daughter.

Addison performs a complex in utero surgery, proving not only her talents to her father but also finally giving them some common ground. Meanwhile Sam and Naomi deal with their own family crisis when they discover their daughter is growing up way too fast, and Violet does the unthinkable.

A terrible explosion at Dell's house lands Betsey and Heather in the hospital, and everyone is pushed to the limit trying to save their lives. Tensions rise even higher between Addison and The Captain when her mother, Bizzy, shows up and a shocking family secret is revealed.

Desperate to help his pregnant daughter, Mark follows Addison back to Oceanside Wellness, Dell and Naomi struggle to raise their children under the same roof, and Violet and Cooper heatedly disagree on how to treat a patient on.

Sam and Naomi are stunned by Maya's shocking announcement, and Naomi's irrational response leaves Sam to pick up the pieces, as Pete challenges Fife on a patient with a cutting edge bionic arm.

Sam isn't happy with the way Maya is proposing to deal with her problem and Naomi won't talk about it at all, but Sam is dying to talk more to Addison about the sparks between the two of them and Addison doesn't want to deal with that. Following the fall out between Cooper and Charlotte, Violet offers her home for Charlotte, which doesn't exactly thrill her best friend. Patients include twin girls who are terminally ill and their little brother is only able to save one of them.

Sam convinces Violet to help plan Maya's wedding when Naomi refuses to take part, tensions between Addison and Sam rise even as they work together to treat a suicidal patient, and Cooper and Pete treat a teenage girl with a mysterious bite mark on her neck.

As Violet continues to help Sam with Maya's wedding, Naomi refuses to take part as she works with Addison and Pete to save the life of a 25-week-old premature baby. Meanwhile, Cooper suspects that Charlotte's new boyfriend is abusing pills.

Things get too close for comfort when Addison, Pete and Sam must come together on a complicated case involving a dad-to-be who comes down with tuberculosis and threatens the future of his new family. Meanwhile, with Violet still gone on her Costa Rican escape, Sheldon takes over helping one of her patients, Natasha, to get over her crippling fear of flying, and Naomi finds herself in a bit of a love triangle of her own.

Addison clashes with Sam's new girlfriend Vanessa over the treatment of her patient Kayla - a surrogate carrying triplets for a childless couple. Meanwhile, Naomi's tangled love life between William and Gabriel gets more intense just as Pete notices that William appears to be having health problems. Elsewhere, Cooper and Sheldon argue over Charlotte as they treat a young girl who may be suffering from schizophrenia.

A husband's decision to pull the plug on his pregnant wife is overruled by a judge, forcing the hospital to keep her on life support until the fetuses she is carrying as a surrogate are able to survive. Meanwhile, Naomi feels betrayed after learning of Sam and Addison's feelings for one another, and she turns to Dr. Fife for support while William is away on business. And unable to cope with the tension, Addison takes the day off with Pete and Lucas.

When famed neurosurgeon Dr. Ginsberg and her team pay a visit to St. Ambrose to save the life of Kayla, Addison is shocked to see Amelia Shepherd - Derek's younger sister on the team. But Amelia's presence causes strife between Addison, Sam and Pete when she claims she can save Kayla's life after Dr. Ginsberg declares nothing can be done. Meanwhile Charlotte seeks from Cooper's with a sex education seminar for the elderly that only leads to more tension between the two, as they try to figure out how to work together.

After her open-ended escape to Costa Rica, Violet has finally returned home and to the practice. Everyone treads a little lightly around her, especially Pete and Addison who have mixed feelings about Violet's desire to reconnect with Lucas. Meanwhile Amelia butts into Sam's personal life, pointing out that he can mend hearts in the OR but can't seem to do that for himself; and Sheldon encourages Charlotte to reconcile with Cooper, while Cooper deals with a young patient who eats everything in sight.

When Violet files for joint custody of Lucas, Pete fights back, forcing friends and co-workers to choose sides.

Naomi puts Fife in a conflicted position when she begs him to help William's advanced ALS with his still experimental treatment. Meanwhile Violet and Amelia treat a woman with a brain tumor who has to choose between life or quality of life, and Sheldon decides to officially throw his hat into the ring for Charlotte's affection

Maya and her unborn baby are fighting for their lives on the operating table, and Addison, Amelia and Fife try everything humanly possible to save them. Meanwhile, Sam operates on an incoming crash victim and later makes a grim discovery; Cooper makes an ill-timed but valiant effort with Charlotte, and the staff's world gets rocked by an unexpected death.

Pete and Violet anxiously prepare for their wedding day, but Cooper may have to intervene when emotions and fear of the future run high. Things have taken a surprise turn with Addison and Sam, and Naomi juggles the burden of caring for her daughter and newborn granddaughter and worries about Dink's ability to parent. Despite disagreements and deeply-rooted conflicts, the doctors come together to mourn the loss of their friend, Dell.

Violet and Cooper make amendments to their friendship in order to please their significant others; Pete and Cooper get in an argument involving marijuana use by a patient (guest starring Justine Bateman as Sydney); Addison is conflicted about going public with her new romance, and Sheldon's decision to deny approval for a patient's sex change backfires.

The man responsible for endangering Maya's life and killing Dell shows up at Oceanside Wellness with a heart condition, and Sam struggles with his responsibility to help; contrary to Violet's warnings, Pete volunteers at a friend's home medical clinic and ultimately puts a patient's life at risk; and news of Addison's new romance doesn't go over well.

The arrival of Dell's young orphaned daughter, Betsey, stirs up the emotions of everyone in the practice; and Pete and Amelia disagree over a risky surgery to treat a woman who has been experiencing chronic and insufferable pain throughout her pregnancy.

Much to her displeasure, Addison is teamed with a new oncologist, Dr. Rodriguez, to treat a newborn baby with a malignant tumor; when Violet and Sheldon visit a prison in order to interview inmates who are up for parole, Pete is highly uncomfortable as Violet tries to help a parolee; and Addison and Violet suggest Sheldon could be the solution for Amelia's needs.

Addison and Sam's relationship is strained when they disagree over the treatment and safety of a comatose patient who has become pregnant, while Pete and Charlotte are faced with the ethical dilemma of revealing the HIV status of a patient who has been in a serious auto accident. Violet crosses some boundaries with Pete's family as she gets caught up in the fray of Lucas's first Halloween.

After Pete discovers Charlotte in the halls of the hospital bloodied and bruised, he and their fellow doctors come to her aid, but only Addison learns the truth from Charlotte that she was sexually assaulted.

Charlotte chooses to suffer in silence as she tries to deal with the emotional aftermath of the attack, as Addison struggles to keep the events of that night a secret, while Cooper and the doctors of Oceanside Wellness fight their own demons arising from the assault.

Despite how Charlotte is choosing to deal with the aftermath of her sexual assault, her fellow doctors think they know what's best, teaming up to pursue criminal charges against her attacker. Pete gets a surprise visitor, his estranged brother, who has come to ask Pete to help release their sick mother from prison.

When the District Attorney's office delivers bad news to Charlotte and Cooper about her sexual assault case, Cooper is outraged and Charlotte seems numb, as a case involving a pregnant drug addict hits hard with Addison, who wants a child of her own with Sam.

Addison's mother, Bizzy, aggressively demands her daughter do whatever it takes to save her partner from dying - including working with Dr. Rodriguez once again. Meanwhile Amelia and Pete's medical consultation is complicated when a patient's wife and his mistress disagree on the course of treatment, Charlotte and Cooper try to be intimate with each other again, and Violet considers publishing a personally-revealing book she's written.

Addison plans Bizzy and Susan's wedding while trying to keep her distance from the overly flirtatious Dr. Rodriquez. Sam is concerned about the care his longtime patient is receiving, and Sheldon refers Charlotte to his mentor and friend for psychiatric help.

Charlotte's attacker, Lee McHenry, arrives at St. Ambrose Hospital, injured by his girlfriend and in need of urgent care, and Sam and Charlotte must decide whether or not to save his life. Meanwhile, Susan's health takes a turn for the worse, and Addison's mother, Bizzy, begs her daughter to do everything in her power to help.

After tragedy strikes the Montgomery family, Addison goes home to Connecticut and Sam and her friends decide to join her. Meanwhile, Sheldon and Violet clash when Sheldon's death row patient confesses to a crime that his wife, one of Violet's patients, believes he didn't commit.

Charlotte and Cooper look to forgive each other after revealing secrets during couples therapy, Violet seeks the forgiveness and approval of her fellow doctors after they learn her novel-in-progress will make all of their personal lives public, Sheldon treats a patient who claims to have multiple personality disorder, and Sam and Naomi team up on a case involving a pregnant teen with Down's Syndrome.

The doctors of Oceanside clash when an expectant mother and her husband, desperate to have children, come to them in order to harvest the eggs of their unborn, ill-fated baby; meanwhile, Amelia tries to help a friend who threatens suicide if her tests for Huntington's Disease are positive, and Fife returns to tell Naomi how he feels about her.

At the launch party for Violet's book, Sheldon falls for the smart, beautiful Dr. Marla Tomkins, even though she's the critic who panned Violet's tome; meanwhile, Addison's and Pete's patient is caught in a love triangle with her brother-in-law and sister, for whom she is a surrogate, and Cooper and Sam try to convince a family to make their son's health a priority over his successful wrestling career.

When Pete's brother, Adam (Kyle Secor), brings their sick mother (Louise Fletcher) for a consult, Pete discovers her illness may be his brother's fault. Meanwhile, in the wake of her book's success, Violets walks in on Sheldon just as he's about to take her archenemy on a date, and Cooper treats a young musical prodigy whose brain tumor could prevent him from ever playing the piano again

The doctors of Oceanside Wellness are faced with a tough decision -- to point out all areas of vulnerability within the practice and risk the termination of some of their own, or to dissolve the practice and each go their separate way. Addison has a new admirer in town who offers her a very tempting proposition. Meanwhile, Charlotte is assigned to a case that hits very close to home.

Sam, Cooper, Charlotte and Amelia team up to save the life of their friend Pete after he suffers a heart attack, while Violet, who was in the middle of leaving Pete and LA, is nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Addison's desire to have a baby leads her to see Jake Reilly, her recent mystery man, in a most surprising place, and Sheldon tries to help Amelia in her battle with alcohol.

The Oceanside Wellness doctors interview potential replacements for Naomi, including Jake Reilly, and no one understands Addison's resistance to hiring him; Cooper breaks the law and crosses his wife, Charlotte, in an effort to get cord blood for a young, sick patient; and Pete directs his post-heart attack frustrations towards Violet.

Addison and Jake work with a patient who wants to have a baby even though she doesn't have a uterus; Amelia, back in AA and seemingly back on track, treats a Parkinson's Disease patient who habitually cheats on her husband; Violet, struggling to be a stay-at-home mom, attends a mommy group and finds it's not for her; and Cooper receives the surprise of his life.

Cooper receives the surprise of his life when a woman from his past arrives at the practice; Addison consults her patient, Jodi, who is eight and half months pregnant and suffering from severe memory loss after a traumatic car accident; and Sheldon and Violet clash when their patient, Jodi's husband, Zach, considers leaving his wife and taking the baby with him.

Addison begins in vitro fertilization treatments with Jake's help, unbeknownst to Sam, Amelia is deeply conflicted when her terminally-ill friend, Michelle, asks her assistance in her suicide, and Sam and Violet contend with a patient who refuses his anti-psychotic medication.

Charlotte's painful memories of a horrible tragedy are triggered as Amelia continues her downward spiral; Addison takes one step closer to motherhood when she finally chooses a sperm donor; Cooper faces a difficult decision when he realizes his patient's parents have been drugging their son in an effort to control his supposed ADHD; and Pete's trust issues prevent him from repairing his fragile relationship with Violet.

Amelia's drug addiction spins further out of control as she plays hooky from work with a new fling, starts writing pill prescriptions for herself, and has a run-in with the cops; Addison and Jake are at odds when they must make the impossible choice between donating their patient's organs or saving the life of her healthy, unborn baby; Violet begins working at Seaside Wellness again, and Cooper, Charlotte and Mason begin to form a family bond, much to Erica's chagrin.

The Seaside Wellness group stages an intervention for a defensive and volatile Amelia, who has resurfaced after disappearing on a 12-day drug binge with her boyfriend, Ryan. During the intervention, Amelia mercilessly attacks her friends one-by-one, and Addison, in particular, has trouble seeing her sister-in-law in her present condition.

Amelia makes the hard decision to enter a rehab facility, and finds strength in an 18 year-old girl, as they both go through the painful detox process. Meanwhile, Cooper's strengthening bond with his son is tested by his allegiance to a patient in need, Pete and Violet's marriage reaches a tipping point, and Addison collapses from her rigorous fertility treatments.

Cooper struggles with whether or not to punish Mason after he catches him stealing; Pete and Violet find it hard to split time with Lucas now that they're living apart; Addison makes changes in her home life to prepare for a potential new baby; Violet and Jake work with two women and a man involved in a polyamorous triad; meanwhile Amelia returns to the practice and realizes how badly she hurt Sheldon when she was abusing drugs.

Pete, Violet, Sam and Addison adjust to their new, singles lives in different ways. Addison questions how much she wants a baby and confides in Jake, Violet considers an offer to go on a date with a young, hot paramedic, and Sam and Pete have a bachelors' night at a local bar. Meanwhile, Charlotte faces a personal, ethical dilemma when Amelia uncovers a secret about Mason's mom, Erica, and Sheldon refuses to bend to the pressure when an old friend from the police force wants him to rubber stamp a fellow cop suffering from PTSD.

Just as Violet's personal life takes a turn for the better with Scott, the paramedic, Joanna (the abused woman she met at the airport months earlier) arrives in need of urgent medical attention, being both pregnant and badly beaten; Cooper, Charlotte and Amelia all counsel Erica on the toughest decision of her life; and Addison and Jake meet with potential surrogates.

Sheldon treats a married Army veteran who was sexually assaulted. Jake and Addison drive to Palm Springs for a medical conference. Erica and Mason are involved in a car accident when Erica's condition worsens and she has a seizure while driving. Pete becomes angry and jealous when he catches Violet kissing Scott. Sam has to bail his sister out of jail.

Sam finds his estranged sister, Corinne, in jail, heavily medicated and near-catatonic, and brings her to Sheldon for help; Erica begins secret treatments for her cancer and refuses to let Cooper and Charlotte tell Mason; Cooper, Pete and Addison treat the baby of a drug addict; and things between Violet and Scott continue to heat up in the bedroom.

A special episode which precedes the first episode of Private Practice. The episode consists entirely of clips from the first three seasons of Grey's Anatomy. Taken together, the clips detail Dr. Addison Montgomery's experiences at Seattle Grace Hospital, filling in new viewers on her history and the reasons that she has come to Oceanside Wellness.

Addison and Sam go for a hike in Malibu, and must perform urgent field care when they stumble upon an expecting couple, trapped in their car after an accident. Meanwhile at Oceanside Wellness, Charlotte, Cooper and Violet treat a newlywed who, out of nervousness for his wedding night, has taken too much Viagra, and Pete and Sheldon hit the bar scene together but fall for the same girl.

Addison disagrees with Naomi on the designer baby methods she did for Molly and Eric Madison in order to save their 7 year old son. But when 6-month pregnant Molly decides to bring on her labor as her son's condition deteriorates it is up to Addison to save the baby and reluctantly donate the core blood to the baby's brother. Meanwhile, Cooper and Charlotte continue their behind closed doors affair and it causes him to abandon his usual annual holiday with Violet. Elsewhere, Pete asks Addison out just as Kevin comes back on the scene, Dell quits and Naomi tells Addison that the practice is in trouble which causes Sam to relieve her of administrative duties.

After tragedy strikes the Montgomery family, Addison goes home to Connecticut and Sam and her friends decide to join her. Meanwhile, Sheldon and Violet clash when Sheldon's death row patient confesses to a crime that his wife, one of Violet's patients, believes he didn't commit.

Addison invites her fellow colleagues to a party at her new home but no-one RSVP's except Dell. Cooper befriends a lovesick patient and Violet discovers that Naomi's seeing her ex-boyfriend Alan's new wife Cami as a patient. Meanwhile, Addison treats Rebecca - an underweight pregnant woman who has been misdiagnosed and is categorized as having Munchausens.

Sam gets called to a convenience store were he ends up delivering the child of the woman who tried to rob the store. Addison and Naomi treat a patient who doesn't want her little boy because her husband goofs off with their other three boys too much. Addison and Pete treat a patient whose husband died.

Addison opposes a plan put into action by the rest of the staff before she joined the Practice, while Violet is asked to put her license in jeopardy by one of her best friends, who happens to be running for office.

After suffering a severe asthma attack at Seattle Grace, Sam is treated by Naomi and Bailey who try to determine the cause. Meanwhile Addison assists Derek in a case involving a pregnant woman.

Addison performs a complex in utero surgery, proving not only her talents to her father but also finally giving them some common ground. Meanwhile Sam and Naomi deal with their own family crisis when they discover their daughter is growing up way too fast, and Violet does the unthinkable.
